Papier Mâché Mirror Frame Workshop, Sunday 12/6

from $55.00

Description: Create a one-of-a-kind decorative mirror using handmade paper pulp and papier mâché techniques!

In this hands-on class, you'll learn how to transform recycled paper into sculptable paper pulp, including shredding, soaking, blending, and mixing ingredients to create a versatile sculpting material. You'll then design and build a custom frame around a mirror, adding texture, shape, and artistic details that reflect your personal style.

From whimsical and organic forms to bold, colorful designs, you'll explore paper pulp creation, sculpting, construction, and finishing techniques while transforming everyday materials into a functional work of art.

Please note this is a 2 step process. The frame must dry for at least 72 hours prior to painting. You have 2 options for painting and decorating: you can take a kit home to complete on your own, or you can come back to the studio to paint with Gabrielle.

No experience necessary.

This event is also BYOB. Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to enjoy while crafting. We have glasses available, no need to bring disposables.

When: Sunday, 12/6, 1-3:30pm

Skills taught: You’ll learn how to make paper pulp, papier mâché techniques, how to build and shape dimensional forms, how to create texture and decorative surface details, and how to layer and finish papier mâché for durability.

Skills needed: This is a great workshop for beginners! Anyone with interest in sculpting, painting, and creative experimentation is encouraged and welcomed to attend. All that is needed is comfort with getting a little messy and working hand-on with materials (we have aprons you can use!).

Supplies used: All will be provided and small mirrors, papier mâché materials, gloves, paint, d-rings for hanging, and cardboard for transporting.

What you’ll leave with: All students will leave with a sculpted paper pulp mirror frame in progress and the skills needed to continue customizing it at home (or at the studio!).
