Description: Stella-who? Dode-what? Stellated Dodecahedron! Or a fancy way of saying 3D star!
Come make a stellated dodecahedron with us. Our teacher for the day, Amy, will show us how to make two dimensional objects become three dimensional! We’ll measure, cut, decorate, and glue card stock paper into a 12 pointed, 3D star called a Stellated Dedoecohedron.
Once you start making these hanging stars, you won’t be able to stop. Poke holes and insert fairy lights and hang in your bedroom. Paint them in your desired colors and use them for party decorations. String together and make a large garland. The options are almost endless!
Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to enjoy while crafting. We have glasses available, no need to bring disposables.
When: Thursday, 8/20 6pm-9pm
Skills taught: You will learn how to think outside of the box, proper folding and scoring techniques for paper arts, and assembly of the stellated dodecahedron.
Skills needed: Comfort using scissors and glue
Supplies used: All supplies will be provided by CraftNation and will include card stock, glue, paint and paint pens.
What you’ll leave with: Each student will leave with a 10” x 10” stellated dodecahedron
Meet your teacher: Amy Kelly is a Philadelphia based, mixed media artist. Amy has a BFA in Drawing and has been teaching since 2013. Crocheting, bookbinding, and watercolor are her specialties. She currently makes commission paintings for clients, teaches art workshops, and makes mixed media artworks based on religious and cultural symbolism.
