Memento Flipbook Workshop, Friday 9/18
Description: Join us to blend elements of collage, zines, junk journaling, and scrapbooking to create a pocket sized, personal memento filled, flip book. Whether to preserve a specific memory, or to serve as a portable, ever changing memory collector, you’ll leave with a unique, personalized memento that you’ll be proud to show off!
This event is BYOB. Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to enjoy while crafting. We have glasses available, no need to bring disposables.
When: Friday, 9/19, 6-8pm
Skills taught: You will learn the basic elements of collaging, junk journaling, and scrapbooking
Skills needed: None! All you need is the desire to create in community and to have a fun evening.
Supplies used: All supplies will be provided and will include plastic toploader cards, binder fasteners, polaroid printer and film, craft paper, stamps, and charms. If you have personal ephemera you would like to include, please bring it!
What you’ll leave with: Each student will leave with a plastic memento flip book, unique to you and that can be used to memorialize a special moment.
Meet your teacher: Han McCoy (he/him) is an art historian and emerging craftsman. His personal practice revolves around collage and memory collecting, using the two in tandem in an attempt to examine the intersectional identities within him as an individual. He dedicates much of his time creating sustainable craft and stationery items under the name Birdie & Co., intending to make crafting accessible and highlight the importance of physical media. McCoy's professional and academic endeavors have been supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Samuel H. Kress Foundation; he has held positions at the Philadelphia Art Museum and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
All workshops at CraftNation are offered at a sliding scale. For guidance on which price you should pay, please see our Sliding Scale page.
