Intro to Beaded Embroidery, Saturday 11/14

from $55.00

Description: Ready to add beading to your embroidery practice? Bead embroidery is a great way to add color and texture to your artwork. In this workshop, we’re taking it a step further, and beading the entire piece!

Join us for an afternoon of embroidery and create a beaded appliqué inspired by traditional tattoo flash that can be attached to a canvas pouch, a tote bag, a denim jacket, or sneakers. We will have a canvas pouch or tote bag if you’d like (included in the cost of the class) or you can bring your favorite article of clothing or accessory piece to add the applique to.

When: Saturday, 11/14 12-3pm

Skills needed: None! All you need is the desire to create in community and patience with yourself

Skills taught: Students will learn the basics of bead embroidery, how to create an applique, and how to attach an applique.

Supplies used: All will be provided and will include seed beads, starter kits, and two patterns to choose from. You can also pick from a canvas tote or pouch to attach your applique. Feel free to bring your own article of clothing for the applique if you’d rather.

What you’ll leave with: Every student will leave with an appliqué and a kit that includes supplies to finish your design on your own time or create your next appliqué! The starter kit includes embroidery needles and a hoop, nylon thread, organza fabric, iron-on stabilizer, fabric glue, printed instructions, and a canvas pouch.

Meat your teacher: Tracy Esteves Camacho has always enjoyed making things and is usually thinking about her next craft project. About two years ago, she discovered seed bead embroidery and has been hooked ever since. When she’s not crafting, Tracy works for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.

All workshops at CraftNation are offered at a sliding scale. For guidance on which price you should pay, please see our Sliding Scale page.
