Exploring the Art of Tea Blending (and Stamp Making!), Saturday 12/19
Description: Let your senses guide you through the process of crafting your own custom herbal tea blend. With the support of your herbal guide, Sara of Philly Herbal Arts, we will begin class by getting to know each herb through sight, taste, smell and touch. Sara will share some information about each herb provided, and foundational strategies to consider while crafting your own unique blend.
Once you craft your blend, Gabrielle will guide you through creating your own custom logo using a lino cut stamp. She’ll show you how to transfer your design and carve your block. You’ll use your custom stamp to decorate your custom herbal mix bag!
When: Saturday, 12/19, 1-4pm
Skills taught: You’ll learn basic herbalism concepts foundational to the art of tea blending, using the frameworks of Western Herbalism. You will also learn how to design and carve a lino block stamp.
Skills needed: No previous experience needed! Just a desire to create in community and learn something new.
Supplies used: All will be provided. For the tea blending portion of the workshop, Sara will provide thoughtfully-selected organic herbs aligned with the energy of the season.
Please note: All herbs provided have a wide-margin of safety. However, it is always recommended to consult with a health professional prior to working with herbs consistently, especially if you are nursing, pregnant or on any pharmaceutical medications
CraftNation will provide all supplies needed for stamp making, including a lino block, carving tools, and ink blocks.
What you’ll leave with: Attendees will leave with two 2 oz of your own organic custom herbal tea blend in a decorated resealable container, instructions on how to prepare your herbal tea, and a rubber linocut stamp with your custom logo. One container for yourself, and one to share with a friend. Because herbs are always meant to be shared <3
Meet your teachers: Sara (she/her) has been exploring the art and science of holistic herbalism since 2022 and has completely fallen in love with the herbal arts since. This past year, she completed the Family Herbalist program through Commonwealth Holistic Herbalism and continues to deepen her knowledge through their Community Herbalist courses. Most recently, she completed a year-long immersive with Philly-based herbalists through the 2025-2026 Seasonal Sovereignty program.
She believes that herbal education can be fun, playful, and empowering, and that plants teach us how to build deeper connections with the earth, ourselves and each other.
Sara dreams of a world where organic, high-quality herbs are accessible to everyone and folks feel confident to enjoy herbs safely and responsibly in their daily lives! Her mission is to help bring that reality to life through Philly Herbal Arts.
Gabrielle (she/her) has over 30 years of crafting under her belt, and a love of community in her heart. She built CraftNation to be exactly the kind of place she always wished existed. Walk in, grab some supplies, and create, make something with your hands and find your people while you're at it.
All workshops at CraftNation are offered at a sliding scale. For guidance on which price you should pay, please see our Sliding Scale page.
