Description: You’ve mastered the single crochet and double crochet, you’ve made some coasters and granny squares, and now you’re ready to make something you can wear? This is the class for you then!
In this class, Sloane will show us how to make our very own crochet winter beanie! She’ll walk us through some advanced stitches (HDC Blo, slst) to create a ribbed look and will show us how to turn a flat piece of fabric into a hat!
This event is also BYOB. Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to enjoy while crafting. We have glasses available, no need to bring disposables.
When: Saturday, 10/24, 1-4pm
Skills taught: You’ll learn how to half double crochet in the back loop only, slip stitch, basic hat shaping, and seaming.
Skills needed: This is an advanced beginner class and some crochet experience is required. You should either have completed Crochet I or be familiar with single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and how to work a flat piece.
Supplies used: All will be provided and will include acrylic worsted weight yarn, 5mm crochet hook, and darning needles. Crochet hooks will be available for purchase after class if you’d like.
What you’ll leave with: You will leave with either a completed small beanie or enough yarn to finish on your own.
Meet your teacher: Sloane started crocheting in 2023 as a way to work through grief and anxiety, and she’s been hooked ever since! She loves making everything, from garments to bags and blankets, and especially cute amigurumi. Sloane opened a small crochet business in 2025, Sloane Stitches, and she sells her amigurumi plushies on etsy and at markets around Philly!
